The xx has a busy, busy day + song and video of the day
One of our favorite British bands, the xx, had quite a presence on the music scene today. First off, they released the music video for their song ‘VCR’. Directed by Marcus Söderlund, the love song comes to life in a mostly black and white depiction of sweet violence and romance. Click here to see some of the bands other videos, they’re pretty cool. Secondly, Gilles Pearson announced that the xx will be covering Gil Scott-Heron’s upcoming new album I’m New Here. As if all of that wasn’t enough, a new remix of the same song (VCR) has surfaced. Have a listen, it puts a whole new spin on the song.
Alright kids, it’s time for the song and video of the day. We’ve got some good ones for you today. By the way, if you have any suggestions for a song or video to be featured, just drop us a line either via comments or email.
Song of the day: Colouring of Pigeons – The Knife (ft. Mount Sims and Planningtorock). This comes as a single for The Knife’s upcoming Tomorrow, In a Year. If the name of the song sounds weird to you, just wait till you hear the premise of the album: it’s a soundtrack to an experimental opera based on Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. Can’t get much weirder or more awesome than that. A studio version of the soundtrack comes out March 1.
Video of the day: Start A War – The National (La Blogotheque Concerts Á Emporter series)
