Songs and Video of the Day

Posted 28 Jun 2010 in Music

Hey everyone, hope this is finding you well. This weekend was a terrific one, full of live shows (Twin Tigers, Interpol, Tokyo Police Club, and Passion Pit!) and great music news. Of Montreal has announced their new LP, Thom Yorke played a surprise set at Glastonbury, and Matt Berniger of The National was mistaken for a terrorist. Really. Unfortunately, Monday is upon us once again, which for many signifies the start of a long week full of work and other lame things. However, there is always a remedy, and that’s music of course. Enjoy these new songs, and be on the lookout for a review of last night’s Tokyo Police Club/Passion Pit show in Philly.

First up is a track that landed in our inbox from NYC newcomer Samuel. It’s a sweet, poppy song that’s guaranteed to be stuck in your head for days. Showing his versatility, he also recently lent his voice to two pretty cool remixes by The Knocks. With all of this going for him, Samuel is definitely an artist to watch out for.

Next up is the first single from of Montreal‘s new False Priest, to be released September 14. Sounds like the group has still got it, granted “it” for them is a lust-fueled, pop-angsty ballad. If you’re into of Montreal, this will serve as a reminder of why the band is so awesome, and undoubtedly get you excited for the new album.

Finally, we’ve got a little something from Chromeo‘s upcoming September 14 release, Business Casual. I’ve been a fan of Chromeo for a long time now, and this track doesn’t disappoint. As a bonus, check out this awesome remix of one of my favorites, ‘Fancy Footwork’.

Our video for the day comes courtesy of Rusko. We posted the Sub Focus remix of this track a while ago, and now there’s a video for the original. It offers a look into Rusko’s busy life as he tours the UK. Check it out.

did you see Daryl Hall and Chromeo at Bonnaroo?

unfortunately no, they were playing at the same time as the flaming lips, bassnectar, and the black keys. i ended up choosing bassnectar and loving it, but it was still a terrible scheduling move on bonnaroo’s part.

    Yeah horrible scheduling.

I skipped the Lips(saw them in 2007, didn’t want to deal with the photo pit main stage madness), shot the Black Keys’ first three songs and then headed to Chromeo, they were GREAT. And security let me stay in the photo pit the whole show. <3

Really digging Samuel’s music and the entire Heavy Roc roster. Alex Winston and The Knocks are pretty great.
