Songs and video of the day

Remember when you couldn’t get the dreamy falsetto of Bon Iver‘s “Skinny Love” out of your head? I definitely do. I recently stumbled upon an awesome live version of “For Emma” featuring the Eau Claire Memorial Jazz Band. It’s a great, jazzy take on the song. Speaking of 2009 favorites, also check out one of his tracks from the excellent Dark Was The Night compilation. And for a real treat, have a listen to the “Re: Stacks” remix, it takes Bon Iver’s vocals and turns them into house music gold.

Today, Erykah Badu‘s New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh drops on Universal Motown. In honor of that, we’ve got the new, controversial video for “Window Seat”, the second video to come from Part Two. The video, shot in documentary, blurry style, was inspired by Matt & Kim‘s video for “Lessons Learned”, as well as JFK’s assassination (yes, really). Let me explain a bit…filmed in Dallas on St. Patrick’s Day, Badu walks down the streets, stripping off her clothes as she goes. She eventually finds herself in the same intersection that Kennedy was killed. You really should check it out — Miss Badu never disappoints.

Also check out the video that inspired Erykah. This one takes place midtown in New York City, and features twice the amount of stripping. Oh, and it’s also a pretty cute song.
