Seabear @ The Green Room: March 30, 2010

Posted 02 Apr 2010 in Music,Shows

On Tuesday, we ventured up Saint Laurent to The Green Room to see Seabear perform. And holy shit, were we in for a fantastic surprise. We went expecting a quiet and intimate show, as we’d come to love fr0m the Icelandic band’s low-key recordings. What we got was even better: the seven piece group put on a gorgeous, high-energy performance for a packed (albeit small) bar. Check out a couple of mp3s and photos below, and be sure to read our interview with Sindri Sigfússon.

Fronted by Sigfússon, Seabear rocked out to both new material off of We Built a Fire and old favorites from The Ghost That Carried Us Away. With so many instruments, and at times voices, each song had an alluring, warm quality to it. The size of The Green Room contributed greatly to the performance as both the vocals and instrumentals filled the entire space with an energy that couldn’t be ignored. You could see how every member and their instrument were contributing to the sound. More importantly, you could see how much they were all enjoying performing. After the set, the band exited the bar through the front door, but were only gone for a moment before the cheers for an encore brought them back. They played ‘I Sing, I Swim’ off of their first album, the perfect ending to a show that blew us away.
