Reeeemix! Phantogram

Posted 11 May 2010 in Music

This Phantogram remix landed in our mailbox this morning, and since we’re still playing Eyelid Movies on repeat, I thought it was worth sharing. Phantogram has essentially exploded in the past few months, and it seems like there are only more good things to come. They’ve been touring nonstop, playing their own gigs as well as opening for indie darlings such as The Antlers and the XX. This Alan Wilkis remix is a nice take on one of my favorite tracks, ‘Mouthful of Diamonds’. A light synth-pop beat, samples, and signature Phantogram vocals come together to create an enjoyable and interesting listen. The band’s label, Barsuk Records, describes the remix as a “joyous new-wave inflected delight,” and that sums it up quite well. Ch-ch-ch-check it out.

A couple of months ago, Maurizio had the chance to sit down and chat with Sarah and Josh as they passed through Montreal. It was awesome talking to them, you should definitely read that interview here!

Also, take a minute (or four) to watch the video for ‘Mouthful of Diamonds’. It features the positively lovely Sarah Barthel as she sings in the dreamy, synth-ish vocals that we’ve come to know and love. The video tells a semi-dark story, but it draws you in; the extremely trippy scenes don’t hurt either.
