Mixtape Fridays

Happy Friday everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I thought I would take things in a bit of a different direction this week. We’re gonna get a little more vibe-y than usual with some great deep house tracks from Tensnake, Maya Jane Coles, Scuba and a few others. So sit back, relax and let the grooves take you away. Our mixtape this week comes from my partner in crime for DJing and producing: K431….

Igloofest Weekend Three

As expected, the 2012 installment of Igloofest has been an amazing success thus far. A-Trak, Buraka Som Systema, French Fries, Max Cooper, Sebastian Leger and many more have already managed to melt faces in the sub-zero temperatures, and the festival isn’t even close to finished yet. So far we’ve already seen the first ever sell-out in Igloofest history, with over 10,000 rabid fans descending on the Quays on Saturday night, so be sure to get your tickets for this weekend…

Cream Dream- Spliffy Beats vol. 1

It’s no secret that as time passes by, your tastes in music, clothes, friends etc. will inevitably change. While I still love my EDM music as much as ever before, I’ve recently found myself more and more seeking out new down-tempo, chilled out tracks from younger, up-and-coming producers, and New York’s Cream Dream is one of the producers who’s caught my ear because of his infectious hip hop instrumental beats. His music is in a somewhat similar vein as…

For today I’m back with a new crop of great…

Bassnectar @ Metropolis 11/25/11

So as promised, here are the photos for Bassnectar’s incredible show at Metropolis last Friday. The venue was in top form that night, filled to the rafters with loyal bassheads eager to get their fix. Montreal natives Dooze Jackers set the tone for the evening, playing a great selection of tropical, moombathon, and dutch bass music that got the crowd more than ready for the opening act. These guys have been on a tear as of late, so check out…

As we turn the calender over to November, it’s time to look ahead to see what great acts will come through Montreal over the next month. This one is hosted by our friends at Low-Life, so get out there and show them some love. Later this month…

What’s up everyone. I know I didn’t post anything this weekend, but it was my birthday so I decided to give myself a few days off. Anyway I’m back now with some great new songs and videos from some of my favorite artists. First of all, the new M83 and Florence & The Machine albums are currently blowing up my iTunes playlist on repeat, so I thought I would put up a couple of videos for singles from the respective…

Nadastrom_800x800

Moombahton pioneers Nadastrom are back with a brand spankin new EP, “El Baile Diabluma,” released this week in association with Scion. This whole 5 track EP takes the listener deep into the darkest jungles of moombah with dirty tribal beats, ragga vocal samples and diabolical synth riffs. And with contributions from Tittsworth, Sabo and Munchi you know that Dave Nada and his partner in crime Matt Nordstrom mean business on this one. They’ve definitely established themselves at the forefront of…

And good lord are they dirty. “Promise Me a Rose Garden” is a classic fusion of electro-house and dubstep that also features some beautiful vocals and soulful pads. Meanwhile the second single “Glow” has much more of a retro…
