Happy Labor Day

A very happy Labor Day to all. We’re in full chill mode here because today is our last day of rest and relaxation before classes get into full swing. Today we have some work-themed tunes to help you celebrate your Labor Day right, hope everyone out there is having a great three day weekend. Also, keep an eye out for an upcoming feature about TNM by our friend Nico at 4MTL. We had a really good time talking with him,…

Mixtape Fridays

Happy Friday everyone. Just got back a few hours ago from seeing Flying Lotus and Lunice at Just For Laughs, and I’m happy to say that this show exceeded my already high expectations.  Lunice got the crowd pumped up and ready to go by playing a great selection of hip hop tracks and showing off his formidable dance moves. He was a great opener, but it was Fly Lo who really brought down the house. He played off of the…

Video Madness

What’s up guys? I’m going to keep this post nice and short, but I was poking around the TNM inbox today and found some sick new videos to share with y’all. Two are from Russ Chimes, one of my favorite producers in the business right now. Russ is releasing his new Midnight Club EP as a video trilogy, and today we have parts one and two for you to enjoy. Part three drops September 8th, so we’ll post that as…

Klaxons-Surfing-The-Void

Surfing The Void

It’s been a while since we last heard from Klaxons, but the UK alt-rockers recently dropped their sophomore album, Surfing the Void, on August 23rd. This LP is their follow up to 2007′s critically acclaimed Myths of the Near Future and the first new material released by the boys in 3 years. With so much time to craft their next record, my expectations for this one were pretty high. On Surfing the Void, Klaxons stay true to their unique style…

Back to the Grind

It’s all coming to an end. A new year of classes begins today, and although I’m obviously sorry to see summer go, it’s time to get back to work and back to the grind. A new year means a new set of resolutions about getting my life on track, here’s hoping I don’t disregard them in a month. Getting back to business after weeks of freedom is never fun, but on the bright side, we have some great music coming…

HARD Tour @ Electric Factory 08/18/2010

For more awesome photos of the show, be sure to check out our friend The Calcutta Blog. Philadelphia may not be a city known for it’s electro scene, but you never would have known based off of the turnout for the HARD Tour on Wednesday. The Electric Factory was packed with electro fans, grateful for the chance to finally get down to some dirty beats in the city of brotherly love. Destructo opened, followed by a long set by Sinden…

Happy Friday everyone. Well it’s finally here, the last post that I will write from the great city of Philadelphia. Come Sunday I’ll be heading back up to Montreal to begin another year of concerts and shenanigans, but I had one hell of a sendoff on Wednesday at the HARD summer tour. Rusko, Sinden and Crystal Castles absolutely blew the roof off of the Electric Factory, and just to ensure that my ears never fully recover, I’ll be welcomed back…

Florence + the Machine

So, I’m just now waking up after a long night at the Electric Factory for 2010′s HARD Tour. Rusko blew it out of the water, putting on a killer set that sent the crowd into a dusbtep-dancing frenzy. Crystal Castles went equally as hard, performing with their infamous energy and intensity. Be on the lookout for a full review of the madness in the next day or two. Now, it’s time for songs of the day. I’m still really, really…

It’s Time…HARD Tour 2010

It’s finally time for one of the most anticipated tours of the summer. The first-ever HARD Tour kicked off in California on the 6th, and with a stop in Philadelphia on Wednesday (8/18), it’s still going strong. Headliners Crystal Castles have apparently been throwing down ridiculous, crazy intense sets thus far. The Toronto natives have been infamous for their live performances ever since their formation in December 2003. Originally a solo project by Ethan Kath, he discovered vocalist Alice Glass…

What’s good everyone, happy Friday to you all. It still seems a bit strange to me, but the summer is quickly slipping away and today marks the beginning of my last full weekend in Philadelphia. This summer has been pretty wild, but it’s not finished just yet. I’ve already begun mental preparations for the insanity of Wednesday’s HARD Philly, headlined by Crystal Castles and Rusko. It should be a great finishing touch on the summer of 2010. The HARD tour…

It’s been far too long since we’ve posted anything from our Soundcloud page, and for that I apologize. The summer always tends to get a bit crazy and as a result we can’t always post as often as we’d like to. But rest assured, this slacking on our part won’t last too long. Once we’re back in school we’ll get back into our groove and keep bringing you the best music we can find as often as possible. Until then,…

Jungle_Dreaming-8

Just got a heads up from Montreal’s own Kid Aloha about some new songs he’s been working on. Predation and Clique are his two new fairly bizarre yet fantastically refreshing hip hop tracks. Predation features some hard hitting tribal beats behind wild and exotic sweeps, while Clique takes on a heavier feel more suited for the clubs. Be sure to give them both a listen, and keep an open mind while you do. Pedation- Kid Aloha [Audio clip: click ‘read…

Happy Friday everybody. It’s been another long week, but we’re finally closing in on the home stretch. The summer is winding down which means it’s time to pack the most fun possible into these few remaining weeks, so get out and enjoy yourselves while you still have the chance. We’ve been pretty busy around here, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up about a new blog recently started by a few of my good friends from Philly. The…

Montreal at night

What up everyone? It’s time for songs and video of the day, and we’ve got some excellent tunes for you. First up, we have a new track from Freddie Gibbs, a Cali-based rapper. The song combines the talents of Bun B, Chip Tha Ripper, Chuck Inglish, and Dan Auerbach, and the product is just as good as you’d expect. Next, we have a new track from DYM, also known as Damn You Mongolians. We’ve heard some awesome remixes come off…

The long awaited day is finally here and after a three year layoff Montreal’s favorite native children, The Arcade Fire, have returned to reclaim their spot at the top of the Indie food chain. Since the release of their first album, 2004′s Funeral, The Arcade Fire have played an instrumental role in spreading indie rock to a larger audience. Over the last few years, however, the genre seems to have stagnated, lacking a clear voice or direction, and certainly lacking…
