Mixtape Fridays: Week 9
We have an extra large installment of Mixtape Fridays lined up for you this week. Why is it bigger than normal you ask? Well for starters we’re currently getting ready to go berserk at the Woodwork festival tonight. This event is complete with enough world-class DJs (Kid, Aloha, Love Thy Brother, Brodinski, Nero, Sound of Stereo, Laidback Luke, Calvin Harris) to keep us half-deaf for a week, just the way we like it.
Before we get to the music, I’d like to share some recent news that has me infinitely psyched. The Electro Wars is an upcoming film documenting the meteoric rise of electro, remixing, and the blogosphere since 2008. Steve Aoki, LA Riots, The Crookers, A-Trak and just about any other DJ or electro artist you can think of appear in the documentary, discussing their opinions on the evolution of dance music, the continuous blurring of genres and the change that blogging has brought to the music industry. The film comes out March 26th.
Now, without further ado our mixtape of the week. If you haven’t heard by now, Elite Force is quickly making his mark on electro, a mark that got much larger with the release of his latest LP Revamped. The album features 14 Elite Force remixes and originals, each one of which is a certified banger. He also includes this continuous mix of all 14 songs, enjoy the madness.
