Mixtape Fridays: Week 7

Another week is drawing to a close, which means we finally get a chance to blow off some steam. Like we mentioned earlier this week, there’s a lot coming up in the near future to look forward to. Next week RJD2, YACHT, Neon Indian, Muse and Tiga will all be coming through town, not to mention Drop the Lime, Classixx and Harvard Bass at Blog Wars. There’s gonna be a lot to keep us busy this month, so keep checking in. We’ll have concert coverage and photos, more interviews, album reviews and as always, the best music we can get our hands on.

This week’s first mixtape comes from one of the heavyweights of the DJing world, A-Trak. Hailing from right here in Montreal, A-Trak’s resume is impressive, to say the least. He was the first DJ to win 5 DMC World DJ Championships (he won his first when he was only 15) and when he’s not producing his own material, he’s touring as Kanye’s personal DJ. The next mixtape is ATL RMX. Like the name implies, this mix fuses Atlanta’s top hip hop artists with some of the best electronic and experimental producers working today. El-P, Flying Lotus, HEALTH, Drums of Death, Dam-Funk, Lil’ John, Goodie Mob, Gucci Mane and Young Dro all make appearances, and that’s only about half the list. Check it out…
