Mixtape Fridays: week 6
For this week’s installment of Mixtape Fridays I want to start by apologizing for the low amount of posts recently. We’ve been busy making improvements to the site, putting up pictures (check out our Gallery page) and conducting interviews. but we’ll be running stronger than ever very soon.
This week I decided that it was high time we shared our love of Deadmau5 with all of you. For my money, Deadmau5 is the best DJ in the world, and seeing him earlier this year at Metropolis remains one of my favorite live musical performances ever.
For those that have never listened to him before, his music can take some getting used to. His songs take a while to develop and can seem repetitive at times, plus the giant Mau5ehead he wears on stage can throw some people off (I wonder why…) However, if you’re willing to take some time and give him a chance, there’s a lot about him to like. His melodies and chords are beautifully composed and his rhythms are insanely catchy. He may take his time layering his beats, but if you’re patient, it makes for some intensely satisfying build-ups and drops.
So for this week’s Mixtape Fridays enjoy some hand selected songs from our favorite.

And what’s this? Apparently he’s starting to dabble in dubstep. This is a teaser of tracks he keeps posting on his Soundcloud page called ‘Dub5tepthingie.’ We’ll see where he’s going with this.
