Igloofest: Week 1
Well the first weekend of Igloofest has come and gone, leaving an odd mixture of satisfaction and sadness in my gut. We only made it out for Saturday night’s show, meaning we missed two full nights of parka partying (shame on us.) That being said, the one night we did attend delivered all the madness we’ve come to expect from the festival. The lights, the ice sculptures, and of course the ever-enthusiastic costumed patrons make the environment truly unique.
Lunice and Stanton Warriors ripped the stage apart, using heavy breakbeats to complement the underlying banging electro and dubstep tracks. Lunice also threw in a nice mixture of rap and hip-hop to keep the crowd hyped up all night. We got a taste of some new tracks from Stanton Warrior’s upcoming album, set to drop (hopefully) sometime early 2011. “Turn Me Up Some” is the first taste of what’s to come, and let me say, I’m stoked. There are still two more big weekends ahead of us, so if you missed out this time don’t get too down, you still have plenty of chances to experience everything the festival has to offer.
