Igloofest II: Electric Boogaloo

Posted 25 Jan 2010 in Festivals,Music

Well week 2 of Igloofest has come and gone, and at this point we’re running out of superlatives. 3 more nights. 9 more amazing DJ’s, and all the insanity we have come to expect from Montreal parties. We were lucky enough to make it to Friday and Saturday’s events, props to anyone who managed to get to all three nights. We missed the female-heavy lineup of Maus, Mightykat and Mark Farina on Thursday, but heard that the mix of deep and tech-house, electro and touches of dub kept the crowd guessing and moving all night. On Friday hometown heroes MadKids started the night off right, followed by Zoo Brazil from Switzerland and Italoboyz from jolly ol’ London. Again, all 3 put down massive sets and by the end of the night Italoboyz had the crowd eating out of their hands. MadKids will be active around the Montreal area all winter, so if you missed them you will have more opportunities to check them out. As for the other two, we’re not so sure when we’ll see them again, but you can at least download some tunes thanks to your friends at The New Montreal.

Zoo Brazil – Tear the Club Up

MadKids – Porcelain Fountains (Original Mix)

Italoboyz – Zinga (Drama Dub)

Saturday was equally wacky, featuring ROUX Soundsystem, Matt Tolfrey and Tel Aviv’s own Guy Gerber. The final dirty, dirty house set from Gerber ended week two off spectacularly.  At this point, I don’t know how many more ways I can write the sentence “these guys were all great,” so I’ll just let the music speak for itself.

Delete vs. Matt Tolfrey – All Broken Up

Guy Gerber & Shlomi Aber – After Love

Guy Gerber – Invisible Romance

We have only 1 weekend left to enjoy this little slice of awesome we call Igloofest. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out, so be sure to make it down at least one night next weekend for another round of madness.

Your lineup:

Thursday: Cocktail Club Soundsystem, Robag Wruhme, and M.A.N.D.Y

Friday: Ghostbread, Douster, RUSKO, King Cannibal

Saturday: Stefny Winter, Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli

See you there!
