What’s up everyone? Our ticket giveaway contest is over, many thanks to everybody who wrote in. For those of you who didn’t win this time around, don’t be discouraged. We’ll have a few more of these types of contests coming up in the future, and even if you didn’t win the tickets, I still suggest you hit up La Sala Rosa tonight for what’s sure to be a fun show with Menomena and Suckers. However, if you’re in the mood…

Yo Philadelphia!

Greetings from Philadelphia!

We’ve got some very exciting news for you today. As you’ve probably noticed, over the past few months many of our posts have been coming out of Philadelphia. Two of us are from the area, so summer break took us home for a while. Now, I (Claire) have officially relocated there, and well, we couldn’t just ignore the amazing Philly music scene. The natural next step was to create The New Philadelphia, a sister site for TNM. The New Philadelphia…

Last Thursday, Vitalic and Teenage Bad Girl arrived at Theatre L’Olympia ready to perform for a large and clearly excited crowd. Despite some problems with the venue’s soundsystem, Vitalic took to the stage and kept the audience enthralled throughout his performance. Before his set, I got the chance to go back stage and speak with the veteran DJ for a few minutes. We had to keep things brief, but I really enjoyed hearing what he had to say about the…

Friday Friday Friday! We got our weekend started off right thanks to an incredible performance by Vitalic at Theatre L’Olympia last night. I also had the amazing opportunity to sit down with the man himself before his set and had a really good time talking with him; I should have the full interview ready to post by the end of the weekend. Speaking of interviews, we’re also going to chat with Delphic later this afternoon, and we’ll be conducting an…

Yea, yea I know. I didn’t watch the MTV Video Music Awards either. But apparently they went down in LA last Saturday, and guest who DJ’d the whole affair? That’s right, it was none other than our favorite masked man Deadmau5. Looks like his skills and his killer visuals were on full display that night, as he mixed and re-edited all of the performing artists’ songs live. To give you an idea of what went down, here’s a video consisting…

Caribou @ Le National 9/16

Caribou Silouhette in Denali

Last Thursday, Caribou played a show at Theatre Le National which I was, unfortunately, unable to attend. Luckily, my friend Kevin did check it out, and he was so blown away that he wrote a short review for us. “As Caribou first took the stage at Le National,  the first thing that struck me was the light setup. Their strobes would cause any self-respecting epileptic to flock to an Ibiza rave, and as if that wasn’t enough, their psychedelic on-stage…

of Montreal @ Electric Factory 9/15/10

This past Wednesday, Janelle Monae and of Montreal played a show at the Electric Factory that could only be described as wild. I’d been looking forward to this show; I’d seen of Montreal twice before, and they’d always been fun, albeit very bizarre. I arrived just in time for the start of Monae’s set. I’d only heard a couple songs off her debut LP, The ArchAndroid, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The Factory was pretty packed; there…

Happy Friday everybody, I hope you’re all as excited about this weekend as I am. Trying to pretend to be a responsible adult isn’t nearly as much fun as it’s cracked up to be, mostly due to the fact that it requires waking up before noon. But with classes out of mind for a few days we can finally relax and prepare for some great times with great people. So whatever you do and where ever you may find yourself…

Sit Down, Man

dasracists

The Brooklyn-based stoner rap sensation Das Racist have returned! The duo released their second mixtape, Sit Down, Man, yesterday, hoping to follow up on the success of their last release, Shut Up, Dude, which came out in March. While Shut Up, Dude quickly emerged as an internet smash-hit, Himanshu Suri (aka Heems) and his partner in crime Victor Vazquez (aka Kool A.D) became extremely polarizing figures in the hip-hop community. Some (like myself) found their stream of consciousness flows and…
