Mixtape Fridays
What’s up everyone? Hope you all had a solid week. If you’re anything like me then you’ve been spending most of your time over the last few days watching the World Cup. We got a chance to watch the first few games down at Bonnaroo and I’ve been hooked ever since. Best of luck to the Americans today against Slovenia. U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A! Our first mixtape today comes from John Roman. This one has been in the works for a…
Bonnaroo Recap Part 1: Thursday June 10, 2010
There’s a lot to say when trying to recap a festival as massive as Bonnaroo, but we’ll do our best to give all of you an idea of what it was like. We’ll be outlining our personal highlights from each day over the course of our next few posts. First up is Thursday, Bonnaroo’s opening afternoon and night. The madness began before we even got onto the festival grounds with a traffic line of epic proportions. Roughly 40 miles of…
Seek Magic
New Jersey based producer Dayve Hawk is a very busy man. For the last few years, Hawk has had his hand in several projects, and by this point you may know him as Weird Tapes, Memory Cassette, or his most recent incarnation, Memory Tapes. While his three aliases differ slightly, they all feature a similar danceable, yet ethereal vibe. Whether creating original material or remixing songs for a diverse group of artists (including Peter Bjorn and John, Gucci Mane and…
The Hangover
Just got back from what can only be described as one of the best weekends of my life. Bonnaroo is truly something to be experienced and I sincerely hope that all of you get a chance to get out to Manchester, TN at some point in your lives to see it. Between spending almost 48 total hours in my car, going 3 days without showering (or sleeping) and seeing some of the best musical performances of my life, I’m sure…
Arcade Fire @ Place Longueuil parking lot 06/09/2010
Last Wednesday, Montreal-based Arcade Fire played a free show right outside the city in a Longueuil Shopping Mall’s parking lot for nearly 10,000 fans. Frontman Win Butler expressed the band’s astonishment at the humbling and overwhelming crowd, thanking everyone from the fans for coming, to the city of Montreal for supporting the band for the past seven years, to Osheaga for allowing them to play a free show less than two months before they headline the Montreal festival. Clearly touched…
Lazy Sunday’s Vol. # Formula 1
I was so excited for this post to say “finally it’s Sunday, we can relax a little and celebrate Formula 1 with some hard earned Mario Kart 64″. But as it turns out, Crescent is ridiculous today. With (the real) Grand Prix coming to a close and the World Cup just beginning this weekend, it’s no surprise that Montreal has not stopped partying. So, I guess it’s time to hop in the shower, don my racing stripes, and go get day…
Mixtape Friday
Well, Grand Prix is here this weekend, and we could not be more excited. St. Laurent is already blocked off, with all of your favorite restaurants, dives, bars and clubs posting up on the street inviting you in with delicious smells, sweet music, and outdoor bars; we hear rumors that Crescent will follow suit for all of the public drinking your heart desires. Oh, and I’m pretty sure there are a few races going on too… but don’t quote me…
I Swear It’s Relevant…
Let me begin by outlining four of my favorite things in this world. First, there is the World Cup. As with most sports today, who plays on a given club team is not determined by birthplace or nationality. This does not impede team loyalty for any city, but I can’t help finding it odd cheering for Hasan Salihamidžić while supporting Juventus (my team from Torino, Italy). In the World Cup, though, each player must be born in or a citizen of the…
How to Destroy Angels
How to Destroy Angels, the most recent project of Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, along with wife Mariqueen Maandig and long-time collaborator Atticus Ross, have just released their self-titled debut EP last Monday. Named after the experimental, electronic-noise/industrial-rock duo Coil‘s EP and single, How to Destroy Angels has taken the experimental and noisey nature of their name and fused it with the darker, rockier style more typical of Nine Inch Nails; they have also re-hired Rob Sheridan as the…
Songs and Videos of the Day
Greetings from Philly everyone. It’s good to be home, even if its only for a few days. TNM will be headed to Bonnaroo on Wednesday and we couldn’t be more excited. The 14 hour drive from Philly to Tennessee will be grueling, but that’s a small price to pay to experience one of the best music festivals in America. We can’t wait to get down there and start covering the fun, be sure to stay tuned for pictures and a…
